Kids Parks in Santa Cruz: Garfield Park

Visitor Submission by S.H.: "Garfield is large and has big and little kid playgrounds in sand separated by a path. We like to bring our 4yo's scooter to ride on the path around the playgrounds. Has shade, bathrooms and picnic tables. Occasionally at midday there are homeless folks cooking lunch by the tables, but they're far enough away from the kids that I'm not too uncomfortable with it. Cops will come right away if you call them."

Please continue to call the cops. These men aren't necessarily preparing lunch, they are selling drugs.

I don't know how old the comments are but...I like this little park. I have occasionally seen a homeless person or two hanging around the periphery of the park in the early mornings but have never had any problems from any of them. I haven't noticed anything like that in the afternoons when there are more parents and kids around.
